Annual Witches Tea Benefits Young Female Leaders

October 3, 2016

The school year is in full swing, homework is pilling up and sports are clogging up the calendar, but 50 local young women (aged 10-16) are using their little free time to better the local Ogden community.

The Jr. Junior League (Jr. JLO) is a three year old program of the Junior League of Ogden and prepares the next generation of women leaders in our community. The group's motto is “Girls Building a Better Community,” which translates to focusing on volunteering and learning different skills to help the members be better leaders. The group operates with their own board structure, works on their own chosen projects that impact their community, their peers and their world.

To raise money for the Jr. JLO’s projects and activities, the girls host the annual Witches Tea Party at Witchstock in downtown Ogden. The 300 people attending this sold out event, will be served a light dinner, dessert, and have the choice between tea, hot cocoa, and hot apple cider. The girls of the JrJLO will be dancing to Thriller at the event and hosting a cackle and costume contest. The girls promise it to be a screaming good time for all who attend.

The money from the Witches Tea goes toward helping the girls in the League attend a Leadership Conference held in partnership with Weber State University. At the Academy, the girls learn how they can make a positive impact in the community and develop leadership skills in an interactive setting.
